Category: Accessible Games

Okay, I'm not looking for mud games as I know where to find them, lots of them.
I have a question on servers to play them. I know that VIP-mud is accessible for the blind, hopefully the new version will be out soon.
I'm wondering if telnet is accessible for us, and if so, where can I get it?

Also, since I'm making a website I want to include some of the more popular mud/rpg games.
I have some of the home pages listed, but can we access the games from the home pages, or not? The homepages don't give the port numbers, so should I just include those in a brief description beside each link? Or what would be the best way to do this.

Does anyone use mokeyterm anymore for playing muds/rpg/pbbg, and if so, what is its address as I would like to include some servers for people to choose the best for them when playing these games.
Thanks and any help would be appreciate.

I use telnet...you can use hyperterminal which is a program found on any windows machine.
Note that to get a screen reader to work with it you must turn on monitoring mode (control+shift+S when the program starts)
Hope this helps.

Yeah, it seems to try to connect via telnet, but then it gets stuck as I never knew we could use it. I'm using jaws and I'll give that a try. So, I don't have to go install telnet, then? Its looks like its all ready installed on my XP system. Thanks.

Telnet is already installed. Well on windows XP it is. I believe Vista and I know that 7 uusers have to enable it under programs and features.
For instance if I were to go and type this from the desktop.
windows+R
cmd
enter
telnet toastsoft.net 1234
Enter
That would launch the miriani mud in a telnet window. I think you mean clients, not servers. Servers are what the muds are run on, clients are what people use to connect to the servrs.
For clients, theirs VIP, Monkeyterm, Mushclient, and many others.

It's better to use a client. who the hell even sighted people uses telnet. mushclient is free monkeyterm has been abandoned for years. put the ports there and no not all allow you to play from the homepage. I would recommend mushclient with a jfw plugin in your case. just look on mushclient.com they have information on the forums on all sorts of stuff. Avoid telnet like the plague it sucks and is a pain plus some muds allow aliases so those come in handy and i doubt telnet lets ya have any of those.
